DYNAMO team going to US Judo National Championship. 14 DYNAMO members are qualified and competing in this weekend's US Judo Association, Winter National Championship in Ontario, CA. We have 5 senior (17 & over)brown-belts competing on Saturday, including coach Mead, Jake Marchiafava, Chris Hunter, Derek Montgomery and Vitaliy Staseyev, who will look to earn a spot onto the US National team (and promotions towards black belts). And we will have 9 juniors competing on Sunday, headed by our brown-belts Justin Brezhnev and Klar Kuo, and our purple belts of David Achvan, Josh Rezvani, Justin Kuo, Miles Fishman, Romeo Soofiani, Joey Schwartz and Mark Ignatov. We congratulate these members for being qualified for this event, and wishing them the best of luck. We also hope more DYNAMO members will qualify and compete in next year's national tournaments. November 28. We were very honored and priviledged today to have Bas Rutten visit DYNAMO Club. Bas was a former UFC and Pancrase Heavyweight Champion, and now trains some of today's top prized fighters at his academy (Legends MMA Training Center in Hollywood, CA and Elite MMA Gym in Ventura County, www.legendsmma.com and www.elitemmagym.com ). Bas also offers a very intense, unique and practical instructions on DVD's and online, at www.basrutten.tv ). Bas showed DYNAMO members how to warm up and how to prepare mentally and physically for matches, for MMA and conditioning. We thank Bas for coming and look forward to his continuing involvement with DYNAMO Club. We also want to offer a BIG "Thank You" to Beverly Hills High's Assistant Principal, Mr. Rick Barclay, for inviting Bas to DYNAMO. Mr. Barclay, you will always be COOL in our book. DYNAMO members who are also on the Beverly Hills High School Wrestling team will be competing in the Chaminade Folkstyle Wrestling Invitational Tournament this Saturday, Nov. 24. A reminder that US Judo Association, Winter National Championship is happening on Dec. 1st and 2nd in Ontario, CA. Please let sensei Brezhnev know if you plan to compete. November 20. Due to the Thanksgiving holidays and the US Judo Winter National Championship coming up next week, we will have special holiday practice schedule this week and next. Please check on the Practice schedule section. November 20. Many of DYNAMO's team members and coaches will be participating in the Charminade Wrestling Tournament this weekend (Nov. 24). We wish them the best of success. November 17. 2007 DYNAMO CLUB MMA Championship was held at the Beverly Hills High School wrestling room. The competition brought together 42 Judo, SAMBO and Jiu Jitsu wrestlers from 7 clubs (and 4 states). DYNAMO members competed in 10 age/weight categories and done well both in competitions and in ranking (in Judo and SAMBO). For competition results click here. For videos click here. November 8. Our weekday practice time is reverting back to 4 pm start. So it will go from 4-6 pm on weekdays (except on Friday or days that Beverly Hills High School wrestling team have matches). Practice schedules for the week of 11/12 is also posted. November 8. We are just days away from the 2007 Dynamo Club MMA Championship. We invite all to participate, attend, and help. Also, we will finalize details of the Novice self-defense and Judo class very soon and will start marketing it. November 1. Coach Brezhnev has been invited to referee the Ultimate SAMBO Club Annual Open Championship in New York this weekend. He will also partake meetings with the American Amateur SAMBO Federation as the newest executive director. We wish coach Brezhnev a pleasant trip and success there. November 1. The Beverly Hills Wrestling team is completing their tryout, and regular team practice/season will commence next Monday, November 5. Many of the wrestlers are also DYNAMO Club members. We wish the team a great season and many successes. And since their practice ends at 4:30 pm daily, we will postpone the start of DYNAMO practice to 4:30 pm as well. But please do show up early for warm up or talk to coaches. November 1. A get-well wish to club member, Joey Schwartz, for speedy recovery. November 1. Please do not forget the end of Daylight Savings Time on Nov. 4. at 2 am. Turn back your clock by 1 hour (from 2 am to 1 am), and enjoy that extra hour of sleep or practice. |
